rssk- FatKidonFire Mix

     A 45 minute mix of deep, heavy, and overall just dark as hell dubstep. Coming straight out of the dungeon Sounds courtesy of FatKidonFire- an excellent music blog specializing in collaborating with DJs  to release some of  on the best deep bass mixes out there.This time its the DJ rssk, who I've never heard of before but delivers the goods. Massive and monstrous, this mix is not for the faint of heart, but if shadowy, tortured dubstep sounds are your thing (It sure is mine!) you don't want to miss out!
 

Dagobot Records- Dagobot Reloaded

    A wonderfully cohesive complilation from the various artists that make up the electronic record label Dagobot- a collective of electronic music with a surreal touch- a collage of dreamy, serene waves of synths and sound with a distinct wonky and dub-step style of layered beauty.
        Listening through this album, it is very clear that the musicians over at Dagobot have established a strongly unified vision of what their music should like. In fact, all these songs sound like the work of one singular artist, which in this case is a very, very good thing.

Zaika- Earth's Children

        His debut single (at least on bandcamp) German producer Zaika delivers a track of murky and mysterious bass music- wispy, out-of focus atmosphere with punchy 2-step drum programming and a low-end  hum for a bassline that will rattle your headphones. A great ambient dubstep sound I hope we hear more of.

Nice Icles- ShiverBurn

        Soothing, Aquatic Dubstep tunes From Nice Icles- an artist from the insanely fresh record label Dagobot. Whether he's using the clattering found-sound drum pulses of Burial and other UK-styled producers, or just laying down  heavy, prolonged synth chords to slowly loom over the track and provide a dense texture- Shiverburn is heading in an exciting direction in bass music; a relaxed but brooding collection of glitchy dub tunes to ponder over instead of just trying to melt your face. Evidence- March 2012 mix

    Evidence dropped a superb hour long mix a few weeks ago I felt like sharing. Featuring some of my favorite dub producers- Phaleah and Biome, plus some unheard tracks I'm really loving. Worth a listen if you're interested in deep and dark UK Dubstep. Check this mediafire link for a download.

Scuba- Personality

         A slightly more direct, dance oriented approach to bass music and UK dub, HotFlush records head honcho Scuba is back again- to  (hopefully) bring on a new wave of dubstep releases. Heading in a new direction after the excellent Triangulation, Scuba trades in some his Sliced-up minimal tendencies, and plunges into synthesizer nirvana.
       Incorporating old school, Kraftwerk sounding keyboard loops into his songs, while conjuring swirling masses of ambiance and eerie, mind-altering  sound fx and vocals- to combine and  form a dense and constantly shifting sound. Suited for both the club and dark basement listening. It may take a while to really delve into, but once you finally "unlock" Personality, you're in for a rewarding dub experience you can get lost in.

Burial + Four Tet - Nova

Fresh from recently Releasing his Kindred EP Last Month, Burial is back yet again with another Great collaboration with The Ethereal BeatMaster Four Tet. After working together before on previous Singles both as a duo and with Radiohead Thom Yorke, They are the rarest of collaborations- a massively successful fusion of both producers styles to craft dark and hypnotic grooves perfect for subway travels and nocturnal antics. Maybe a full length awaits us in the future? My fingers are crossed but for now we have Nova. Hope you enjoy!
